Post-Christmas Weddings On A Budget

Christmas is a time of joy and happiness, which one can celebrate in the comfort of family and friends…unfortunately, this same joy and happiness is not as kind on your finances. So it’s safe to say that you’ve spent quite a bit of money on gifts for your loved ones, but what if you’ve planned for wedding to be in January? It’s Simple; these five tips will help you get through.

1.Be Organised

The most important part of this entire situation is ensuring you’re organised. At a time like this, where you have to deal with Christmas, New Years and your wedding, it can get pretty crazy. You don’t want to be losing your head over everything being a mess, when you can just as easily be organised and take things as they go. You can be organised by keeping a diary entry of everything thing you’ve spent from the start of December through till the day of your wedding. Doing this will allow you to keep track of your finances and ensure you have enough money for everything that you want for your special day. Which leads me to point two.

2.Make A Budget

Budgets have never hurt anybody, in fact, they’ve been extremely beneficial to most; that is why it is the second suggestion on this list. Using the diary from the first dot point, create a budget for each event between Christmas and you’re wedding day. For example, let’s say you want to keep two hundred dollars aside to spend on Christmas gifts, write your budget on top of the page and from there on list everything you buy and the amount you spent, that way you can keep track of everything. Do the same for New Years, if you want to throw a party set aside how much you need and then the same for your wedding. The important part in all of this ensuring you don’t go overboard on the expenses. Prioritise and spend.

3.D.I.Y!

Do It Yourself, the best three words that have been put together, you want to know why? It is the perfect middle, you’re saving money while still making your wedding personal, and to the taste of you and your fiancé. Even if you’re not the craftiest person in the world, you can still do this. It doesn’t have to be something major, like your wedding dress. Saving on all the small things is what will benefit you. Instead of buy all your wedding invitations, opt to make them yourself, once again saving money, whilst still keeping it personal. Make some of the décor yourself, anywhere you think you can save money, use it as best as you can. At the end of this blog there will be a link to our Pinterest page where you access, ideas on where and what things you can D.I.Y.

4.Time

You have two months to sort things out, so ensuring you manage your time is key. A tip to doing this is distributing the work load. Ask you family, your close friends, whoever you can think of, to help out. Don’t put all the pressure on yourself, that’s why you have bridesmaids and why your fiancé has groomsmen, so they can help you. Another tip would be to create a timetable. Allocate times to different things, like, how long you want to spend on shopping or making your decorations, etc. and also assign different people to the different times, ensuring everyone works an even amount of time and that the job gets done.

5.Relax

And Lastly, Relax. Every time you think you can’t handle the pressure, just stop and remember why you’re going through all this stress. Yes, there may be a restraint on finances but there’s always a way around it. Relax, ensure your head is in the right space, sort yourself out and what you’re doing and then go about your business. The day you’ve been waiting for is finally coming up and you want to be prepared.
